Children's Centres
This information is intended to give you a brief ‘at a glance’ guide to services and activities that are available in all Children’s Centres across Stoke On Trent.
Each centre has been designed according to local need so they will vary slightly, but all have some common services that are available to any family in Stoke on Trent with a pre-school child or families who are expecting a child.

At a glance guide to Children’s Centre Services
The core offer for the Children’s Centre’s in Stoke-on-Trent is:
- free early years provision (integrated early education and care) for 12.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year for 3 and 4 year olds rising to 15 hours per week by 2010;
- information and access to childcare in the local area;
- information on parenting, drop in groups and opportunities to access parenting support and education for mothers and fathers;
- antenatal, post-natal services, child health services and information on health issues;
- information about employment, education and training;
- information at points of transition, including information sessions around the time of the birth of their child (by linking to and building on existing antenatal and post-natal services) and on entry into primary school which, as part of the extended schools programme, will be offering sessions for mothers and fathers as their child starts school;
- group-based or one-to-one parenting and famuily support, either before or after the birth of their children, to meet the distinct needs of fathers and mothers;
and
- Links with Jobcentre Plus, extended schools, local private, voluntary and independant childcare providers and Parent Direct.
